"Twelve Corners area attract new businesses"

The Twelve Corners area will acquire three businesses and a new Rite Aid building by the end of November. The Rocky Mountain Pizza Kitchen opened Saturday, September 18.

Chris Desino and his brother, Rob, own the Pizza Kitchen, an independent restaurant. Desino thinks the Pizza Kitchen will be able to compete with other area pizza chains such as Pontillo’s and Domino’s. “We offer 68 different toppings, and all the vegetables are fresh. The pizza and the surroundings really stand out,” Desino said.

The restaurant also offers soups, salads, brownies, cookies, ice cream and beverages. “About 80% of the employees are from Brighton High School,” said Desino, adding that they are still hiring.

Pizza Kitchen employee and junior Olivia Butler enjoys the teamwork. “We try to make the job easier for the next person,” said Butler, who works at the register and in customer service. “They’re really nice guys to work for. We are always free to ask [them] questions.”

Desino thinks Twelve Corners Plaza has changed over the years. “There were a lot of vacancies before, [but] now we are getting new businesses to come in.” ...
